COVID-19 closures cause overcrowding of Maricopa County regional parks

PHOENIX — Maricopa County Parks and Recreation says its regional parks are experiencing overcrowding as people head to the trails with many other events and amenities in the Valley shuttering due to the coronavirus.

During this time of high-volume at the parks, the county is asking for people to be patient and abide by CDC guidelines of keeping six feet apart and warning other hikers of their presence if they wish to pass.

The regional parks and trails, including campgrounds, have remained open for public use.

The nature centers are closed, however, so people will not have the opportunity to purchase water, snacks, or other items on-site.

In addition to the closure of the nature center, all park programs, events and special use permits have been canceled.
