America First Credit Union’s volunteering program helps complete 240K projects

PHOENIX — This month, KTAR’s Community Spotlight is shining a light on the work AmericaFirst Credit Union is doing to support Arizona families and communities.

Right now, the company’s charitable foundation is hosting a diaper drive, according to Amber Greenwell, the director of the company’s community outreach and charitable foundation.

“We are collecting unopened packages of diapers and wipes that can be dropped off at any branch location, as well as monetary donations,” Greenwell told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News on Friday. “Last year … 392,000 diapers were collected for 15,000 families.”

Arizona Diaper Bank is one of the three recipients of the products donated to the foundation.

This initiative reflects the foundation’s desire to help families dealing with financial struggles, she added.

Charitable foundation also wins KTAR Community Spotlight for education help

In addition to helping babies, the foundation is also working to help students at local high schools.

“We are … working with our fantastic partners at Arizona Interscholastic and providing 18 scholarships to some outstanding high school students,” Greenwell said.

The foundation is also encouraging community service through its Service First volunteering program.

“That is a program that we have built internally that allows all of our employees the opportunity to go out and serve our communities,” Greenwell said. “This year so far, we’ve helped over 120 different organizations completing over 240,000 different projects.”
