PHOENIX — KTAR’s community spotlight this month focuses on Asset Preservation Wealth and Tax and its support for Helping Hands for Single Moms.

This charity helps single moms become independent and gain post-secondary education.

Asset Preservation’s President Stewart Willis told  KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News on Wednesday that this issue is personal for him.

Why KTAR is shining its community spotlight on this company

“I was put into a situation where my mom became single unbeknownst to her,” Willis said. “It wasn’t a choice of hers and somebody reached out, helped us, and that kind of led to the success of my mom’s businesses and our business as well.”

Willis called Helping Hands the most important charity in his life because it changes the lives of mothers in need.

Sometimes single mothers need to change the cycle of abuse they have endured, and passing on the value of education to their children is life-changing, he said.

“We want to make sure they get that education today so that they can create that generational habit of going to school, getting that that higher education,” Willis said.

Right now, Asset Preservation is matching any donations up to $20,000. Donations to Helping Hands for Single Moms can be made at https://www.apsitaxes.com.
