Firefighters wrapping up work battling Spring Fire near Flagstaff

The Spring Fire near Flagstaff is all but fully contained, authorities announced Wednesday morning.

New mapping showed the wildfire at 110 acres, 2 acres smaller than previously reported, with 95% percent containment, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said in what is expected to be its final update on the incident.

The Spring Fire broke out Saturday along Spring Valley Road around 13 miles northeast of Williams and 23 miles northwest of Flagstaff. Growth of the fire was stopped the next day.

It was determined to be human caused, but what exactly ignited the blaze is still under investigation.

Pumpkin Center was temporarily placed in the “SET” of the state’s emergency alert system, but the status reverted to “READY” on Monday.
