Evacuation order lifted for residents near Brady Fire south of Prescott

PHOENIX – The evacuation order for a community threatened by the Brady Fire south of Prescott was lifted on Wednesday evening, authorities said.

As of that morning’s incident report, the fire had stopped growing after burning 363 acres.

The Brady Fire started Monday west of Mayer on Prescott National Forest land.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) ordered residents of the nearby Pine Flats community to leave the area that evening.

The evacuation order was lifted two days later, although the road into the community remained restricted to residents, YCSO said.

What comes next for Brady Fire?

The cause of the Brady Fire remains under investigation as firefighters work to achieve full suppression.

As of Wednesday morning, 140 personnel were assigned to the incident, with four crews, 16 engines, two helicopters and one bulldozer.

Smoke will be visible from surrounding communities as dry fuels continue to burn, officials said.

The public is being advised to avoid the area.
