Metro Phoenix temperatures are expected to fluctuate wildly this week

PHOENIX – Metro Phoenix temperatures are expected to bounce up and down like a yo-yo this week as a series of weather disturbances move across Arizona.

“That’s going to create a wide variety of weather, some cool days like today where temperatures will only be into the middle and upper 60s, but also some warmer days,” Mark O’Malley with the National Weather Service in Phoenix told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday morning.

If it stays in the 60s on Monday, it will be Phoenix’s first day with a high under 70 since the temperature peaked at 63 on Feb. 12, which was the only sub-70 day all last month.

How much will Phoenix temperatures fluctuate this week?

However, the weather roller coaster is expected to head back up for a couple of days, approaching 80 degrees by Wednesday, before diving into the 60s again on Thursday and Friday.

But by the weekend, the forecast calls for highs back in the 70s, and possibly higher.

In addition to the temperature fluctuations, there’s a slight chance for rain in the region.

“The best chance of rain here in the Valley will occur on Thursday and Friday. There’s currently about a 20%-30% chance … on those days,” O’Malley said.

“It will not be a washout by any stretch, but a few people could see some light showers, particularly on Thursday morning and Friday afternoon.”
