Phoenix logs record high daily low temperature amid recent heatwave and monsoon
Phoenix had a record high daily low temperature on Saturday on the backend of the latest extreme heat warning. It was 92 degrees, besting a 1998 mark by two.

PHOENIX — The city of Phoenix had a record high daily low temperature on Saturday on the backend of the latest extreme heat warning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, which NWS uses for official measurement, was at 92 degrees at around 7:46 a.m. If that unofficial mark holds until midnight, it will set a daily record for Aug. 23, 90 degrees being the previous record in 1998.
The normal low for this date on the calendar is 83 degrees.
The unofficial high temperature was recorded at 109 degrees at 3:58 p.m., four ticks above normal but five below the daily record of 114 in 2011.
The Valley extreme heat warning, which was originally scheduled to end on Friday, will remain in effect through Sunday at 8 p.m.
Estimated monsoon weather following Phoenix record low
So far through the 2025 monsoon season, which traditionally runs from June 15 to Sept. 30, Phoenix has received about 0.2 inches of rainfall. NWS said Sky Harbor usually reports roughly 1.5 inches by late August.
NWS meteorologist Alex Young told KTAR News on Friday that most portions of the Valley can expect 25% chances of rain throughout this weekend.
