Monsoon weather impacts western Maricopa County with dust, strong wind

Western Maricopa County was hit with gusty winds and dust around the Interstate 10 and State Route 347 junction on Tuesday.

PHOENIX — Western Maricopa County was hit with gusty winds and blowing dust around the Interstate 10 and State Route 347 junction around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Stronger dust channels and gusty winds are expected in the West Valley along Interstate 10 as the night wears on.

The storm was concentrated on the southwest parts of the state between Gila Bend and Yuma but some of the dust and wind found its way east into the West Valley.

NWS said storm chances should increase and temperatures should decrease throughout the week.

Monsoon weather in other parts of Arizona

A flood advisory was put into effect through 7 p.m. between Gila Bend and Yuma, where heavy rain fell earlier this week, according to NWS Phoenix.

Radar showed a major storm cell developing east of Yuma, working its way northwest toward Las Vegas, and other cell patches along Interstate 8 east toward Gila Bend.
