Dust storm hits Valley with remnants of storm from southeast

A dust storm warning covering most of the Valley from Avondale to Mesa and much of north Phoenix was issued through 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

The National Weather Service warned of near-zero visibility, as storms worked their way northwest from the Pinal County area after the storm system was above Tucson earlier in the day.

The Valley was yet to receive any measurable rain as of 9 p.m. Sunday.

The system came amid an extreme heat warning that began Aug. 17 and is expected to last until Aug. 28.
