About 5,600 APS customers lose power in thunderstorms

Thunderstorms knocked out power for about 5,600 Arizona Public Service customers on Thursday morning.

The outages were spread across the West Valley, with the largest impacts in Surprise, Peoria and Goodyear, according to the APS outage map.

APS is expecting the electricity to be restored in the affected areas between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Salt River Project, the Phoenix area’s other main power supplier, did not report any outages related to the weather on Thursday morning.

More storms are possible across central and southern Arizona throughout the day, with the best chances in the midafternoon and evening.
