Two truck drivers were seriously injured in a crash that disrupted traffic on US 93 north of Wickenburg on Monday morning.

PHOENIX – Two truck drivers were seriously injured in a crash that disrupted traffic on US 93 north of Wickenburg on Monday morning, authorities said.

A tractor-trailer and a box truck collided on the northbound side near Santa Maria Road (milepost 164) before 6 a.m.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the drivers were flown to area hospitals with serious injuries.

Initially, the highway was closed in both directions, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

After the southbound side reopened, traffic in both directions was permitted to take turns traveling through the area for several hours.

Northbound US 93 reopened by noon, and normal traffic patterns resumed.
