Portion of eastbound US 60 closed in East Valley after fatal collision

A portion of US 60 is closed in the East Valley after a fatal collision Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The closure is in the eastbound lanes at Higley Road in Mesa, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

ADOT is advising motorists to seek alternative routes or expect delays.

A car struck two other cars that were stopped to change a flat tire around 1 a.m., officials told ABC15. One woman died at the scene and five others were treated for injures, the Phoenix TV station reported.
