PHOENIX – Valley motorists should plan ahead for multiple road restrictions and closures this weekend.
The only full mainline closure will be on Interstate 10 in Phoenix for work on the Broadway Curve Improvement Project, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory for May 9-12. (All times below are subject to change.)

Specifically, eastbound I-10 closes from State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) to US 60 (Superstition Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday for electrical work.
The following ramps in the Broadway Curve construction zone will close around the same time:
- Southbound I-17 to eastbound I-10 at the “Split” interchange near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
- Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at 24th, 32nd and 40th streets.
- Eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road.
- Southbound SR 143 HOV ramp to eastbound I-10.
- Westbound US 60 HOV ramp to westbound I-10.
Off the freeway, northbound 48th Street is closing from Broadway Road to I-10.
Eastbound I-10 traffic can detour via the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway to the southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway to either westbound US 60 or the westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway to connect with I-10 beyond the closure.
An alternate detour is available for traffic heading from the West Valley to points beyond the closure. Drivers can take the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway near 59th Avenue to reach I-10 in the Chandler/Ahwatukee area.
I-10 isn’t the only Valley freeway with road restrictions
Road restrictions will be in place in for three other freeway projects this weekend.
- In north Phoenix, the ramps from the eastbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway to both directions of I-17 are closing from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.
- In Scottsdale, the southbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway frontage road is closing from Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to Raintree Drive along with the off-ramp at Raintree Drive from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.
- In the East Valley, only one lane of the westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will be open in areas between Gilbert and Cooper roads from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
