Motorcyclist dead after falling on Valley freeway, getting hit by 2 vehicles

PHOENIX – An overnight motorcycle spill on a Valley freeway turned deadly when the driver was struck by passing traffic, authorities said.

The incident began around 12:35 a.m. when a motorcycle with two people aboard lost control and went down on the westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway near Priest Road in Tempe, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Two vehicles then hit the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said. The motorcycle passenger sustained with minor injuries in the fall.

The drivers of the vehicles involved remained at the scene. No arrests were made.

Westbound Loop 202 was closed in the area for several hours after the deadly incident and reopened by 5 a.m.
