The Loop 202 Santan Freeway reopened five hours after a deadly collision in Chandler on Monday morning, authorities said.
Westbound Loop 202 was closed at Cooper Road for the investigation and cleanup, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said three vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred about 6:50 a.m.
A pickup truck rear‑ended an SUV and hit another vehicle before rolling onto its roof, DPS said.
Two people were taken to a hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead. The other patient’s injures are not considered life-threatening, DPS said.
It was nearly noon before ADOT announced that the Loop 202 closure was lifted.
