PHOENIX – Debris in the roadway delayed traffic on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway during the Tuesday morning commute.
One eastbound lane was closed near 40th Street in Phoenix’s Ahwatukee Foothills area while crews worked to clear the roadway.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, lumber fell off a commercial truck around 7:30 a.m.
The truck braked hard to avoid a collision, causing the lumber to spill out.
At one point, traffic was backed up beyond Desert Foothills Parkway.
