Westbound Interstate 10 reopens in West Valley after fatal collision

Westbound Interstate 10 reopened in the West Valley several hours after a fatal collision Thursday morning, authorities said.
The crash site was near the Fairway Drive exit in Avondale, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the collision occurred about 5:40 a.m. and resulted in serious injuries and one death.
Traffic was forced to exit westbound I-10 at Fairway Drive, between Avondale Boulevard and Dysart Road, for investigation and cleanup. The closure was lifted just before 9 a.m.
