Eastbound I-10 reopens southeast of the Valley after hourslong closure for fatal motorcycle crash

Eastbound Interstate 10 reopened in Sacaton near SanTan Village late Sunday morning after it was closed for multiple hours due to a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist, authorities said.

PHOENIX — Eastbound Interstate 10 reopened in Sacaton near SanTan Village late Sunday morning after it was closed for multiple hours due to a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist, authorities said.

The highway closed before 7 a.m. and reopened around 11:30 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Just before eastbound I-10 reopened, the westbound side of the freeway was also briefly closed for a crash, but has since reopened.

Details on fatal motorcycle crash that closed eastbound I-10 in Sacaton

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on I-10 around 5:50 a.m.

DPS said that preliminary information indicated the motorcyclist was driving eastbound when they rear-ended a stake-bed truck and were ejected. They were then hit by a passing car.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on scene, according to DPS.

The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
