PHOENIX — A 12-year-old boy has died from injuries sustained earlier this week in a five-vehicle crash on an East Valley freeway, authorities said Friday.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed the child passed away earlier in the day.
He was among three people hurt in the collision, which occurred Wednesday night on the southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway in Chandler.
The crash shut down the freeway at Chandler Boulevard for several hours starting around 7 p.m. as emergency crews responded.
By 5 a.m. Thursday, the closure had been lifted, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The DPS Vehicular Crimes Unit is currently investigating the collision.
