PHOENIX – The eastbound Loop 101 to southbound State Route 51 ramp has been widened from one to two lanes, transportation officials said Monday.

Crews began widening the ramp to two lanes last September as part of a $3.6 million project. Funding for the project came from the Maricopa Association of Governments’ regional transportation plan.

A second lane was added to both the ramp that goes from the eastbound Loop 101 to SR 51 and the exit that leads to the ramp. A new concrete barrier was also added along the curved portion of the ramp and new overhead signs were installed on eastbound Loop 101 between Cave Creek Road and SR 51.
