Brewer Science opens office and lab for AI, manufacturing research in Chandler

PHOENIX — A microelectronics materials manufacturer is opening a new office and lab in Chandler.

The Brewer Science Arizona Innovation Center is at 145 S. 79th Street. It will serve as a collaborative research space that will accelerate product development.

All of the company’s manufacturing operations take place in the U.S. This reflects the company’s goal of strengthening the nation’s status as a global leader in microelectronics, according to Rama Puligadda, the company’s chief technology officer.

“The proximity to our customers and partners will streamline our research collaborations and accelerate delivery of advanced materials that meet the rigorous demands of next-generation devices and support our U.S. semiconductor supply chain,” Puligadda said in an announcement.

What’s the significance of Brewer Science opening Chandler office, lab?

The Brewer Science Arizona Innovation Center will help Chandler make a name for itself as a hub for advanced manufacturers, according to Mayor Kevin Hartke.

“It is global leaders in developing and manufacturing next-generation materials and processes, like Brewer Science, that make Chandler a community of innovation and a thriving hub for the semiconductor industry,” Hartke said.

He’s one of many Arizona leaders focused on building the state’s status as an essential link in the domestic supply chain.

Opening this new office and lab will provide job opportunities for engineers, scientists and technologists in metro Phoenix, according to Brewer Science Co-CEO Dan Brewer.

“The Chandler, Arizona, area is a growing hub of semiconductor innovation, and we’re excited to collaborate with the talented professionals driving that momentum,” Brewer said.

The city’s status as a technology hub has far-reaching effects. It’s also influencing the way young professionals are learning.

A new teaching initiative is training Chandler high school students skills they need to work on semiconductor chips so they can find jobs with  Brewer Science, TSMC and other tech giants planting roots in Arizona.

Brewer Science part of semiconductor supply chain in Arizona

Missouri-based Brewer Science already has an established presence in Arizona, according to Arizona Commerce Authority CEO Sandra Watson.

“Brewer Science has long been a valued partner in Arizona’s innovation ecosystem, including through their leadership on the Science Foundation Arizona board,” Watson said.

The company is also part of a collaborative initiative led by Arizona State University that aims to optimize the way AI and machine learning contribute to advanced materials discovery and manufacturing.
