Z’Tejas shutters all locations, including two in Valley
After resurrecting Z’Tejas from bankruptcy in 2018, Randy Cohen has thrown in the towel and closed all locations, including two in the Valley.

After resurrecting Z’Tejas from bankruptcy in 2018, Randy Cohen has thrown in the towel and closed all locations.
Z’Tejas’ location in Kyle, Texas, outside of Austin, opened for its last dinner on June 29.
This closing was preceded by its two locations in the Valley, in Scottsdale and Chandler respectively, which shuttered quietly in the past couple of months, Cohen told the Business Journal.
Cohen, who owned the restaurant chain but did not operate it, said he could never find the right team for the brand and he was constantly working against the flow to keep it going.
“I just don’t think we executed with consistency and with everything that you need to do to have a winning restaurant,” Cohen said. “And restaurants are in a pickle right now.”

ZTejas used to be great but somehow lost their way. I think it was a combination of inconsistency and too much competition. The Valley is saturated with restaurants and retail hence a lot of vacant buildings. Shakeout is inevitable.
Must've had illegals working at these locations..
For some reason, it's harder to find line cooks these days.
