PHOENIX – An authentic tapas restaurant with origins in Spain is set to open its first Arizona location in Scottsdale next month.
Telefèric Barcelona is planning to debut at Scottsdale Fashion Square on a date to be determined in December.
The menu will feature a variety of tapas small plates along with signature paellas and entrees. Drink options will include a selection of over 100 Spanish wines.
The Scottsdale location will be the first Telefèric Barcelona outside Spain or California.
Telefèric Barcelona started in Spain over 30 years ago
The restaurant was founded in the Barcelona area by the Padrosa family in 1992.
Xavier Padrosa, the family’s youngest sibling, came to California’s Bay Area on a tennis scholarship and wound up settling in the U.S. He eventually brought the family business to the states.
“We’re thrilled to bring Telefèric Barcelona to Scottsdale and to introduce the authentic, vibrant flavors and festive spirit of Spain to this community,” Padrosa said in an email to KTAR News 92.3 FM. “Our goal is to offer an authentic taste of Barcelona, with a focus on communal dining, lively atmosphere and a dedication to Spain’s rich culinary traditions.”
There are currently two Telefèric Barcelona locations in Spain and six across California.
