PHOENIX – A California-based Asian coastal cuisine concept is ready for its Arizona debut.

Starfish Scottsdale will accept limited reservations starting Friday before fully opening on May 5.

The restaurant at McCormick Ranch (8390 E. Vía de Ventura) will be the first Starfish venture outside southern California.

“Since deciding to expand into Arizona, we’ve been working extremely hard behind the scenes to bring Starfish to life in Scottsdale,” co-owner Gretchen McConnell said in a press release. “We’re thrilled to finally announce our opening and invite the community to experience our dedication to freshness, quality, ambiance and service firsthand.”

What can diners expect at Starfish Scottsdale?

Starfish serves food inspired by the coastal regions of Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, China and Japan along with a selection of handcrafted cocktails, sake, wine and beer.

The menus feature more than 70 shareable plates as well as signature dishes such as lobster macadamia roll, braised barbecue pork buns, Thai curry chicken and candy dragon prawns.

Starfish Scottsdale will offer a lunch menu until 3 p.m. daily and a dinner menu from 3 p.m. until closing. In addition, the restaurant will have happy hour specials from 3 to 6 p.m. daily, with over 30 food items starting at $13 and discounted beverages.

The new restaurant covers 5,200 square feet, including a 1,400-square-foot patio. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Patrons can also opt for private dining, catering and takeout service through DoorDash and Uber Eats.

The husband-and-wife team of Archie and Gretchen McConnell launched the Starfish concept in Laguna Beach in 2011.

“So many of our guests split their time between Orange County and the Valley, so this expansion felt incredibly natural. We can’t wait to meet our new neighbors in Scottsdale,” Gretchen McConnell said.
