PHOENIX — Arizona family-owned Mexican restaurant Someburros is expanding with a new location in Surprise as the chain celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The new location near Loop 303 and Cactus Road will begin serving Surprise customers on Tuesday ahead of a grand opening celebration on Feb. 21.

“For 40 years, our goal has been simple: to serve great food, treat people like family and be a place where everyone feels welcome,” President and Owner Tim Vasquez said in a release.

“Bringing Someburros to Surprise is incredibly meaningful to our family, and we’re excited to share our Sonoran-style recipes, hospitality and sense of community with our new neighbors,” he continued.

The restaurant is known for its burros and burritos that can be made in chimichanga, enchilada or fundido styles. It also offers combo meals with rice and beans on the side, as well as an all-day breakfast menu.

The grand opening celebration on Feb. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. will include free Someburros tumblers (for the first 50 guests), a meet-and-greet with brand mascot Nacho and live mariachi music for the final hour.

After opening locations in Peoria and Maricopa later this year, the chain will have 20 across the Valley and Flagstaff.
