What’s next after The Salted Knot pretzel shop closes in downtown Mesa?

It’s out with the pretzels and in with the bagels in downtown Mesa.

The Salted Knot pretzel shop originally announced plans to close permanently by the end of May.

Instead, owners Maria Vassett and Chad Day decided to stay open until they could find another business to buy their equipment and assets and take over the space at 21 W. Main St., west of Center Street.

On Tuesday, Vassett and Day announced in a video that their search was successful, but they did not reveal the buyer.

“We have sold the store, and we’re super excited. It just happened; it was super fast,” Vassett said.

What is happening to The Salted Knot space in downtown Mesa?

On Thursday, the new business was revealed to be the Sidewalk Coffee and Bagel Co., which has one location in Queen Creek.

“We are so honored and excited to be taking over The Salted Knot spot in downtown Mesa,” owner Azadeh Purvis said in a video.

Purvis said she is unsure about when her second bagel shop will open, with the permitting and hiring process ahead of her.

When will The Salted Knot pretzel shop close?

Fans of The Salted Knot still have a month to get their pretzel fix.

The shop plans to go out with a bang on its final day, Oct. 18.

“We’re going to have some bands, and we’re going to have some specials so you can get some frozen pretzels to go,” said Vassett, adding that she would post more information soon.
