Angie’s wants to recruit Salad and Go workers who lost their jobs after bankruptcy killed the chain

Angie’s is offering a lifeline to former Salad and Go employees after the drive-thru salad chain abruptly shut down all of its locations this week.

Salad and Go filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday and served its final meals Wednesday, permanently closing its restaurants and leaving thousands of workers without jobs.

“Thousands of Salad and Go store team members across Arizona and Nevada — including hourly store employees and salaried store managers — lost their jobs without severance,” Angie’s said in a statement posted on its social media accounts.

Angie’s is now looking to hire former Salad and Go employees as it expands its production and warehouse teams and prepares to open six Phoenix-area restaurants this year.

Angie’s, a local restaurant chain founded by the entrepreneurs behind Salad and Go, said it is looking to help affected workers after the sudden closures.

“They deserved more time, more support, and a softer landing,” according to the statement from Angie’s.

The founders of Angie’s sold Salad and Go to a private equity firm in 2021 and have not been involved with the company since then.

“Angie’s cannot change what happened; we were forced out of Salad and Go in 2021 and have had no involvement with Salad and Go since. However, we can step up now,” the statement said. “To every former Salad and Go team member: Thank you for what you gave to Arizona. We would be proud to have you help us build what comes next.”

Angie’s began in Mesa as a restaurant specializing in affordably priced lobster rolls. It has since added salads and meals featuring steak, chicken and other seafood while expanding to more than 20 locations. Menus vary by location.

As Angie’s looks to hire former Salad and Go employees, Dutch Bros is exploring whether to turn some of the former Salad and Go locations into new coffee shops.
