Chandler Fashion Center expanding dining lineup with La Popular Cocina Mexicana

La Popular Cocina Mexicana, a restaurant chain that offers elevated traditional Mexican cuisine, is opening a location at Chandler Fashion Center next year.

The eatery is expected to open at the shopping mall in fall 2027.

Some of the dishes it is known for are its ribeye tacos, ahi tuna tostadas, chicken mole poblano and churros served with chocolate sauce and cajeta, which is caramel sauce made from goat’s milk.

The restaurant also offers craft cocktails, like its watermelon hibiscus margarita and forbidden paradise mule, as well as an extensive selection of artisan spirits.

“We are incredibly excited to bring the soul, energy and unmatched flavors of Mexico City to Arizona’s East Valley community,” Laura Gras, director of marketing at La Popular, said in a news release. “Our goal has always been to share the rich culinary heritage of Mexico, creating a space where friends and family can gather over extraordinary food and world-class agave spirits.”

Other eateries that are set to open at the plaza in 2027 include Din Tai Fung and Wagyu House.

Macerich, the owner and operator of Chandler Fashion Center, noted that it plans to announce other retailers and restaurants coming to the shopping center throughout the year.

“In terms of what we have planned, it’s still full steam ahead,” Jessica Janes, AVP of leasing for Macerich, said. “One of the greatest feelings is making exciting announcements like the addition of La Popular and introducing first-to-market concepts to the community. Each addition to the center builds excitement and fits within our vibrant vision for Chandler Fashion Center as a place of quality community enjoyment.”
