PHOENIX — Three Arizona restaurants made Yelp’s Top 100 Ramen Shops of 2025, with all cracking the top 50 on the reviewer-curated list.
Phoenix’s Yutaka Japanese Restaurant landed at No. 22 and Mesa’s Daruma Ramen and Bowl at No. 28, while Mesa’s Daruma Sushi/Roll/Noodle was ranked No. 44.
Yutaka, which is located at the intersection of 7th Street and Bell Road, was rated the 17th-best ramen shop in the U.S. in 2023.
From the top-reviewed Bincho in Los Angeles, California, to No. 100 2nd Language in Evansville, Indiana, each shop shared the commonality of having slow-simmered broths that created “deep, umami-packed flavor.”
The top five spots for the Japanese dish were rounded out by Youta Ramen (Mineola, New York), Sushi Mura (Buena Park, California), Umami Curry & Ramen (Jacksonville, Florida) and Ramen Ebisu (Henderson, Nevada).
Details on 3 Arizona restaurants to make Yelp’s top ramen shops
Yutaka Japanese Restaurant offers fan-favorites Tonkotsu Ramen and Spicy Miso Ramen and also has a variety of sushi, udon and salad entrees to pick from on its menu.
Most entrees range in price from $10 to $17, with both top ramen choices going for $16.45.
It is open on Sundays from noon to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Daruma Ramen and Bowl has Spicy Mayu Tonkotsu Ramen available in five different spicy levels as well as Sapporo Miso Butter Ramen that features chashu, or braised pork belly/shoulder.
Guests can also pick from several chicken, shrimp and pork-based bowls and plates. Chicken Kaarage, Daruma’s take on Japanese fried chicken, is one of its appetizers, along with top-reviewed gyoza fried dumplings.
The Mesa joint is located at 2650 E. University Drive and is closed on Tuesdays. It has hours from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Daruma Sushi/Roll/Noodle, which is located at Southern Avenue and Dobson Road, features an all-day happy hour menu with lots of deals on sushi rolls and various spirits, including hot sake.
It’s menu includes some of the identical entrees and starters as its Mesa sibling, but the restaurant is heavier on sushi — an example being Hungry Man, which combines eel, spicy tuna, crab and shrimp — and also has salmon teriyaki to boot.
Like its sibling as well, it is closed on Tuesdays and is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
