7 Brew wins approval to buy 36 Arizona Salad and Go locations

A federal bankruptcy judge approved the $123.5 million sale of 63 Salad and Go restaurant leases to Brew Culture LLC, the parent company of the 7 Brew drive-thru coffee chain.

Fittingly, the sale approval happened on National Coffee Day.

Thirty-six of the sold locations are in Arizona: 30 in metro Phoenix and six in Tucson, according to court records. The rest of the sold Salad and Go locations are in Texas, Oklahoma and Nevada.

At its peak, Salad and Go had about 164 drive-thru restaurants in five states. Salad and Go needed $27.2 million in new money in December 2025 to stay open. Sales then fell as gas prices rose and again this summer after a Cyclospora outbreak hurt salad chains.

The company filed for Chapter 11 protection in early August. It first agreed to sell 51 Arizona and Nevada sites to Dutch Bros for $105 million. Then 7 Brew outbid Dutch Bros at an Aug. 31 auction. Dutch Bros. remains the backup bidder.

While most issues were ironed out, one Valley shopping center tried to argue their case to the judge in the Tuesday hearing.

The landlord of Glendale’s Westgate shopping center tried to block the sale of one store there. It said its deal with another tenant, HTeaO, keeps it from renting to a rival drink shop. The judge said the landlord waited too long to raise the issue and let the sale go ahead.

What happens next in the Salad and Go bankruptcy?

The sale is expected to close by Oct. 15. Salad and Go’s chief financial officer Francis Gallagher said the company needs $50 million to $60 million to repay its creditors.

About 50 locations remain unsold. Utah-based soda chain Swig bid on eight remaining Arizona locations. An auction for the rest is set for Wednesday, with a court hearing Oct. 14 to finalize the split-up sale.
