Nation’s largest homebuilder buys last 232 lots at Estrella’s newest village

The nation’s largest homebuilder purchased the last lots at the newest village in Goodyear’s sprawling Estrella master-planned community.

Developer Harvard Investments announced Friday that D.R. Horton snapped up 232 home sites on about 90 acres in the village of Lucero.

“With the purchase of the final residential lots by D.R. Horton, we are seeing years of planning and investment come to fruition as Lucero attracts leading homebuilders and homebuyers seeking a place to call home and an exceptional lifestyle,” Roger Theis, vice president of Harvard Communities, a division of Harvard Investments, said in a news release.

What will D.R. Horton build on lots at Estrella’s Lucero village?

D.R. Horton plans to build one- and two-story homes ranging from 1,300 to 2,400 square feet on the lots, with models expected to open in fall 2027.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, D.R. Horton paid Harvard Investments $32.712 million for the property, which comes out to $141,000 per home site.

“The Estrella master-planned community, with its scenic desert backdrops, offers schools, shopping, recreation and more,” Taylor Mize, an executive with D.R. Horton, said in the release. “And Lucero village has access to it all. This makes Lucero … so appealing. The location benefits are a unique aspect.”

Estrella is a 20,000-acre mixed-use development west of Estrella Mountain Region Park. Lucero is one of the community’s four villages.

Last month, developers announced plans for a new lakeside retail center anchored by a Sprouts Farmers Market.
