Chandler to begin accepting public housing pre-applications in April

PHOENIX — The city of Chandler will open its waitlist for public housing for multiple-bedroom family sizes, accepting pre-applications starting on April 3.

After all pre-applications have been submitted, 350 of those that meet the qualifications will be selected lottery-style for available three-, four- and five-bedroom units. Those who are not selected this time around will have to apply again once the waitlist reopens.

The current waitlist will be for existing sites, while a second waitlist for the Villas on McQueen will open in late April.

To qualify for the program, total gross household incomes must not exceed the following thresholds:

• One person: $62,850
• Two people: $71,800
• Three people: $80,800
• Four people: $89,750
• Five people: $96,950
• Six people: $104,150
• Seven people: $111,3000
• Eight people: $118,500
• Nine people: $125,650
• Ten people: $132,850

Tenants’ rent on the program comes out to 30% of their monthly adjusted income.

How can interested residents apply to Chandler’s public housing program?

Applicants can request a form via email, phone or download a PDF available online. There are in-person drop-off sites — including for after-hours — for completed forms or they can be mailed or emailed. The information for those methods is available on the city’s website.

Those who apply must also create an online account at the Apply for Chandler Housing site.

All pieces to the application process must be complete by noon on Friday, April 17 to be considered.
