Rep. Andy Biggs calls for installation of Charlie Kirk statue in House of Representatives

PHOENIX — U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs, on the final day of a politically star-studded 2025 AmericaFest by Turning Point USA, used his first on-stage moments to reveal a recent proposal: construct a statue for the late Charlie Kirk in the House of Representatives.

The Arizona Republican followed that up by encouraging the packed crowd in the Phoenix Convention Center on Sunday to make sure they let House Speaker Mike Johnson know how much they wanted the statue.

“He needs to hear your voice,” Biggs said.

Not even a minute into his own speech, Johnson obliged regarding the immortalization of the Turning Point founder.

“I knew (Kirk) a long time, and yes, Andy Biggs, we’re gonna work on that statue in the state capitol, OK?” Johnson said.

The crowd roared in response and the speaker was unable to speak for a good 30 seconds.

Biggs framed the rest of his message with how “strong” the conservative and Republican movement has become due to Kirk’s continued legacy. He is currently in the Republican primary pool for Arizona’s 2026 gubernatorial race.

“This is the future of American politics right here,” Biggs said. “Charlie saw this moment … and he seized it. He became a prime mover that has changed the world.”

Biggs said he and Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna collaborated on the proposal.

Johnson expounded on the “moment” Biggs referred to, saying Americans are no longer bickering along party lines but are “in a contrast between two diametrically opposed world views.”

Kirk’s wife, Erika, made headlines with her endorsement of Vice President JD Vance as a 2028 presidential candidate. The new Turning Point leader said that the Republican Party wants Vance as its nominee “in the most resounding way possible.”

Vance closed out the four-day celebration by revealing how Kirk’s assassination affected him personally.

“In the days after Charlie’s death I struggled a great deal,” Vance said. “I remember watching every video of the assassination looking for clues trying to understand what happened.”

Though he opened with that what was the first time publicly addressing how the death impacted him, Vance made a play at unity by saying the country needs to grow through, not around, “tough conversations.”

Rapper Nicki Minaj also made a surprise appearance and supported both Vance and President Donald Trump seven years removed from condemning the first Trump administration of its immigration policy.
