PHOENIX — U.S. Rep. Yassamin Ansari helped introduce articles of impeachment against Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday.

It follows months of the Arizona Democrat calling for Bondi’s impeachment, arguing that the Justice Department mishandled the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein and failed to protect victims.

“Pam Bondi is complicit in the most egregious cover-up in American history, hiding documents that reveal a young woman reported being sexually assaulted by Donald Trump when she was just a minor and spying on members of Congress performing their constitutional oversight duties,” Ansari said in a news release.

How is Yassamin Ansari involved in the effort to impeach Pam Bondi?

Ansari is one of five cosponsors for the impeachment charges filed by U.S. Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pennsylvania, who has been leading efforts to release the full, unredacted Epstein files for months.

In July 2025, Lee successfully forced the Justice Department to comply by getting the Oversight Committee to issue a subpoena. That subpoena legally required the department to release the complete, unedited Epstein files starting August 19, 2025.

In January 2026, Lee pushed for Bondi to be held in civil contempt because Bondi did not obey a congressional order to hand over the full Epstein files.

Why are congressional Democrats trying to impeach Pam Bondi?

The articles of impeachment outline several offenses Bondi allegedly committed, including:

  • Perjury in congressional testimony
  • Defying the Oversight Committee’s subpoena to release the full, unredacted Epstein files
  • Defying the Epstein Files Transparency Act
  • Abusing investigatory and prosecutorial authority
  • Defying federal court orders

“Bondi’s actions are not only disgusting and wrong, they are also illegal, in direct violation of the Epstein Files Transparency Act and her oath of office,” Ansari said. “She must be held accountable and impeached immediately.”

She was also a cosponsor of legislation to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, but that is now moot. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump announced Noem will be replaced by Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma on March 31.

Merrick Garland could’ve released the files years ago..he didn’t , why?
Not sure what the basis is for Democrats pushing the narrative that Trump is a pedophile.
I guess that’s what they want to believe for political reasons . This is a man that has had no trouble dating and marrying some of the most beautiful women in the world. So why would someone of his stature even consider underage women when he doesn’t have to?

A nobody democrat trying to impeach AG Bondi. Like this will go anyplace.

Ansari should be more concerned with helping Arizonans, but that thought will never cross her mind.
