Woman injures ankle, rescued off Camelback Mountain hiking trail

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Fire Department rescued a woman off of a Camelback Mountain hiking trail on Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.

At about 12:15 p.m., Phoenix firefighters received a call from one of several friends hiking with the woman that she had sustained an ankle injury.

They then located the woman, and after accessing her physical state, a Firebird 10 helicopter flew in and safely picked her up from the trail.

The woman was taken to a nearby base landing zone in stable condition, authorities said.

Phoenix firefighters are continuing to evaluate her.
