Drive-by shooting near Apache Junction leaves woman wounded

PHOENIX — A woman was injured in a drive-by shooting near Apache Junction on Thursday night, authorities said.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a shooting on State Route 88 near the East Valley city around 10:37 p.m.

Police said the woman sustained a gunshot wound after a suspect fired from a vehicle and struck another car.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

DPS’ Major Crimes District is investigating the incident.
