Unidentified woman found dead from gunshot in Phoenix, police investigating

PHOENIX — An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound in west Phoenix, authorities said.

Police responded to Osborn Road and 55th Avenue near Maryvale High School before 6 a.m. on Saturday for calls of “unknown trouble,” Phoenix PD Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez said on Sunday.

The woman was unresponsive at the scene when police located her, and she had been shot. Phoenix Fire Department responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

Detectives had not yet identified the woman, but police said she was in her 20s.
