Woman dead, man in custody after Gilbert shooting, reports say

PHOENIX — A woman is dead and a man is in custody after a Tuesday evening shooting in Gilbert, according to ABC 15.

ABC 15 reported that officers were called to the InTown Suites Extended Stay near Arizona Avenue and Guadalupe Road just before 6 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a woman who had been shot and performed life-saving measures.

She was taken to the hospital, where she died.

According to Gilbert police, the suspect in the shooting barricaded himself inside a hotel room.

Officers were able to talk with the man, who later surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

According to police, the suspect, woman and her husband all resided at the hotel and that the shooting occurred outside the room.

Gilbert police noted that there was an ongoing feud that possibly led to the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
