With new investment partner, Hash Kitchen expanding outside Arizona

PHOENIX – It turns out Arizona isn’t big enough for Hash Kitchen’s bloody marys, cannoli pancakes and brioche french toasts.

Fueled by a multimillion-dollar investment, The Maggiore Group announced plans Wednesday to push its popular boozy brunch concept into new territory.

The fresh funding is part of a partnership between the Scottsdale-based restaurateurs and Mercato Partners’ Savory Restaurant Fund.

“We think Savory is the perfect partner for us, and we can’t wait to implement their proven growth model as we reach beyond our home base to profitably and aggressively expand our footprint to neighboring states,” Hash Kitchen founder Joey Maggiore said in a press release.

The initial expansion will focus on Denver, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Salt Lake City, according to the release. The goal is to launch 25 restaurants over the next four years.

The Maggiore Group will be involved in the growth process, working alongside the Savory Fund, which will put three members on the Hash Kitchen board of directors.

“The Maggiore Group are exceptionally creative operators, and we believe that by combining our talents and resources, we can make Hash Kitchen the breakfast/brunch category’s dominant player west of the Mississippi,” Andrew K. Smith, Savory Fund managing partner and co-founder, said in the release.

Hash Kitchen, which created a buzz with its elaborate build-your-own bloody mary bars, eclectic breakfast and lunch menu and trendy atmosphere, has five Phoenix-area locations.

The Maggiore Group also operates the Sicilian Butcher and Sicilian Baker brands and is getting ready to debut a Latin-flavored concept, The Mexicano, next month in Phoenix on Cactus Road near Tatum Boulevard.
