Winter weather brings precipitation throughout Arizona

PHOENIX — Rainfall accumulation overnight at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport dropped 0.55 inches with more scattered showers expected through Sunday morning.

Storms in the area started around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Arizona Snowbowl also received overnight precipitation with more than seven inches of snow and had a winter storm warning in effect until 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

In Tucson, storms began later around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday. Showers were expected to continue throughout the morning.

While the start to 2019 has been marked by low temperatures, Saturday was the first day of the new year that temperatures stayed above 40 degrees in Phoenix for an entire day. Tuesday’s forecast shows an expected high temperature above 70 degrees, which would mark the first time in 2019 temperatures record higher than 70.
