PHOENIX — Who let the dog out?

A pooch disrupted traffic on Interstate 17 near the Interstate 10 stack in west Phoenix during evening rush hour on Thursday.

The Arizona Department of Transportation provided quite the play-by-play of the dog’s journey:

It somehow made its way onto the southbound I-17 near the stack at about 4:30 p.m.

In a stroke of luck, an animal control vehicle was on the scene less than two minutes later.

But even animal control couldn’t catch the elusive pup.

The dog then decided it wanted to try out a different Valley freeway. A pedestrian had a great view of the action.

The dog was really committed to making it to the I-10.

The dog’s freeway story came to an end when it made an acrobatic escape just 20 minutes after its fame began.

This story will be updated if the runaway dog makes a return to Valley freeways.
