Everything you need to know about Charlie Kirk’s memorial on Sunday at State Farm Stadium

PHOENIX — The life of slain conservative political activist Charlie Kirk is set to be honored at a public memorial called “Building a Legacy: Remembering Charlie Kirk” on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

The event is being put on by Turning Point USA (TPUSA), the youth political action organization Kirk co-founded in 2012.

The Glendale Police Department told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Thursday that about 100,000 people could attend the service. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other members of the Trump administration will be in attendance.

The event will honor Kirk, who was killed in a shooting at a Utah college on Sept. 10.

Do I need a ticket for Charlie Kirk’s memorial?

A ticket is not necessary to attend the memorial, but TPUSA is asking anyone interested in attending to register in advance online at FightForCharlie.com.

Glendale police said this is being done to get an idea of how many people will be in attendance, the department does expect people who have not registered to attend.

More information for the event will be sent to those who register in advance on Saturday evening, according to the State Farm Stadium website.

Seating will be first-come, first-served inside State Farm Stadium, which can hold anywhere from 63,400 to 73,000 people.

Once capacity has been reached, attendees will be directed to go across Maryland Avenue to Desert Diamond Arena, where overflow seating for up to 19,000 people will be available.

The service will begin at 11 a.m. The expected length of the service has not been announced.

What will security look like at State Farm Stadium for Charlie Kirk’s memorial?

The Glendale Police Department said attendees can expect the same levels of security as at a Super Bowl at the memorial.

This is due to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) designating the service as a Level 1 Special Event Assessment Rating event.

That level is reserved for “significant events with national and/or international importance that require extensive federal interagency support,” according to DHS documents.

After doors open at the stadium at 8 a.m., all attendees will be screened using magnetometers, the stadium website said.

All personal items must either be in pockets or be held during the screening process.

If the magnetometer alerts during the screening process, then attendees will be asked to put their items on a table, so they can be inspected. A physical pat-down will only be performed on those with medical exemptions.

If a person does not consent to the additional screening, they will not be allowed inside.

Desert Diamond Arena has not released any additional information about security for those who end up in overflow seating.

Will roads be closed for Charlie Kirk’s memorial?

The Glendale Police Department announced Friday that several roads around State Farm Stadium will be closed starting around 10 a.m. Saturday.

Here’s a look at all of the closures:

• Cardinals Way will be closed between 91st and 99th avenues.
• Maryland Avenue will be closed between 91st and 95th avenues.
• 99th Avenue will be closed between Glendale and Maryland avenues.
• 95th Avenue will be closed between Entertainment Boulevard and Maryland Avenue.
• 93rd Avenue will be closed between Entertainment Boulevard and Maryland Avenue.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety announced on Sunday morning that the Glendale off-ramp from the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway has been closed both north and southbound directions for the event.

“Plan ahead for parking and allow extra time to arrive at State Farm Stadium,” the department said in a social media post. “Let’s respect one another, be patient and create a safe atmosphere.”

Will bags be allowed at Charlie Kirk’s memorial?

Bags will not be allowed inside State Farm Stadium for the event, and anyone who does bring a bag will not be permitted entry.

Desert Diamond Arena has not released any specific information about bags for those who end up in the overflow seating, but attendees should plan not to bring a bag with them.

Prohibited items at Charlie Kirk’s memorial

State Farm Stadium has released a full list of prohibited items. It includes:

• Aerosol cans
• Alcohol
• Ammunition
• Animals (other than service animals)
• Balloons
• Beverages, other than a clear, sealed bottle of water, which is not larger than 16.9 fluid ounces
• Selfie sticks
• Posters
• Signs
• Strollers
• Video cameras.

Phones will be allowed inside.

Food, except for children under the age of 2, will be prohibited. However, concessions at the stadium will be open, according to the Arizona Republic.

Where can I park for Charlie Kirk’s memorial?

Parking will be available in the State Farm Stadium parking lots.

It is expected to be limited due to the high-security nature of the event.

Parking lots will open at 7 a.m. and overnight camping will not be allowed on Saturday night, according to Glendale police.

RV parking will not be available and attendees are warned not to park in nearby neighborhoods or on the sides of roads near the stadium, as their cars could be towed, according the State Farm Stadium website.

Attendees are encouraged to either carpool or use a rideshare service to get to the memorial.

What should I wear to Charlie Kirk’s memorial?

TPUSA said anyone who attends the memorial should wear their “Sunday best” and that the color scheme for the outfits should be either red, white or blue.

Anyone who is wearing clothing deemed to be obscene or inappropriate will not be allowed to attend the service, according to State Farm Stadium rules.

Can I bring gifts or flowers to Charlie Kirk’s memorial?

Flowers and gifts will not be allowed at the memorial. In place of those, TPUSA is asking for those who want to honor Kirk to either donate to the organization on TPUSA.com or send gifts to the organization’s headquarters in Phoenix.

Country musician Lee Greenwood and singer-songwriter Steve Amerson are also scheduled to perform, according to the service’s website.
