Westgate welcomes whimsical animal statues by renowned artists Gillie and Marc

Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale recently welcomed animal sculptures by renowned British-Australian artists Gillie and Marc.

The statues will be at the popular outdoor mall for visitors to interact and take photos with for one year.

They feature two of the artists’ most beloved works:

• The White Rhino Bench of Friendship, located at Fountain Park.
• The Giraffe and Chimpanzee Were on a Wild Ride to a Safer Place with Rabbitwoman and Dogman, located at Water Dance Plaza.

The White Rhino Bench of Friendship is not only a place for people to gather but also highlights the endangered species and reminds people of the need to protect the vulnerable animal.

Meanwhile, the sculpture with Rabbitwoman, Dogman, the giraffe and chimpanzee invites people to climb aboard as they make their way toward a safer future for wildlife.

Over the last three decades, the artists have installed public artworks, which are meant to inspire people to care about endangered wildlife and the natural world, in more than 250 cities around the world.

The Rabbitwoman and Dogman, unlikely soulmates who symbolize acceptance, unity and love having the power to overcome differences, are at the heart of every Gillie and Marc sculpture. They are usually accompanied by endangered animals to encourage people to see wildlife as companions who deserve protection.

The artwork is inspired by Gillie growing up in Africa as well as Marc working with conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall.
