1 dead, 2 injured following crash in west Phoenix

PHOENIX — One person has died and two others were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in west Phoenix on Friday night, authorities said.

At 6:45 p.m., police responded to the area near 78th Avenue and Indian School Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers found two vehicles involved in the collision.

Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. John Fisher, 36, did not survive the crash and died from his injuries, police said.

Indian School Road was closed in all directions as a result of the crash.

After an initial investigation, authorities believe as Fisher was driving west on Indian School Road, the second vehicle pulled out of a parking lot on the northside of the street and crashed into Fisher. The 36-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

Authorities said detectives are collecting evidence to determine if charges are necessary.
