WeRIDE Microtransit expands to provide rides to more parts of Peoria

PHOENIX — WeRide, a public transportation program in the West Valley, is expanding its service area in Peoria, the city announced Monday.

People who use the service to navigate the city can now access rides that take them to Thunderbird Road between 75th and 83rd avenues.

The expansion of this service will aim to provide riders easier access to jobs, shopping and recreation areas.

What is WeRide and how does it serve people in Peoria?

Operated by Transdev, a public transportation company, Peoria was the fourth West Valley city to receive the WeRide service after Avondale, Goodyear and Surprise.

The Peoria service, which launched with a 10-square-mile zone in January, is a flexible and on-demand ride-hailing model that lets residents access transportation that integrates with the existing Valley Metro network.

Thanks to the recent expansion, the WeRide Peoria and WeRide Surprise zones now connect at the Arizona Department of Economic Security Office and Salvation Army in Surprise.
