Weezer, Pixies to come to Phoenix in 2018 on co-headlined tour

PHOENIX — Fans of the rock bands Weezer and the Pixies might want to start saving their pennies: The groups will be co-headlining a tour that will come to Phoenix late next year.

The groups will perform at Ak-Chin Pavilion near Encanto Boulevard and 79th Avenue in Phoenix on Aug. 12, 2018.

Phoenix will be the last stop on Weezer’s and the Pixies’ seven-week tour across North America in summer of 2018. The tour will kick off in Tampa, Florida, on June 23, 2018.

This will be the groups’ first time going on tour together, although they have performed together in the past.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale on Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. Arizona time on both Weezer’s and the Pixies’ websites.

Weezer fans can also access pre-sale tickets by signing up for their email list. The pre-sale tickets will go on sale Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. Arizona time.

The tour will embody Weezer’s latest album, “Pacific Daydream,” which was released last week. It is the group’s 11th studio album.

In a statement, Pixies frontman Black Francis said the group are big Weezer fans themselves, so they are “really looking forward to this summer. We have a lot of respect for Weezer, they’re not afraid to take risks with their music.”

For those who will not be able to make it to the Phoenix show, no worries: The groups will also be performing in West Valley City, Utah, on Aug. 1; Mountain View, California, on Aug. 7 and Chula Vista, California, on Aug. 11.
