Weekend freeway closures to affect North Valley, East Valley drivers

PHOENIX — Drivers in the North Valley and East Valley will have to deal with freeway closures this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

In the North Valley, southbound Interstate 17 will be closed from Thunderbird Road to Dunlap Avenue from 2 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement work.

The southbound I-17 ramp at Greenway Road will be closed during that time.

Also, the westbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed from Tatum Boulevard to Cave Creek Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for improvements including diamond grinding of concrete pavement.

The northbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 and westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 56th Street will also be closed.

In the East Valley, the southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway will be closed from the U.S. 60 to Warner Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for lane striping and pavement improvements.

Both U.S. 60 ramps to southbound Loop 101 will be closed.

Also in the East Valley, northbound Loop 101 will be narrowed to three lanes from Baseline Road to Rio Salado Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for improvements including diamond grinding of concrete pavement.

Both U.S. 60 ramps to northbound Loop 101, the northbound Loop 101 off-ramps at Broadway Road and University Drive and the westbound U.S. 60 on-ramp at Alma School Road will be closed during that time.

Finally, southbound Loop 303 will be narrowed to one lane from Grand Avenue to Mountain View Road from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday for pole installation as part of a freeway technology project.

The southbound Loop 303 on-ramp at Cactus Road will be closed during that time.

Southbound Loop 303 will also be narrowed to two lanes from Peoria Avenue to Northern Parkway from 10 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday for pole installation as part of a freeway technology project.

The southbound Loop 303 on-ramp at Waddell Road and westbound Northern Parkway ramp to southbound Loop 303 will also be closed.
