Watch: Maricopa County elections officials present rebuttal to audit claims

PHOENIX — Maricopa County elections officials on Wednesday are rebutting claims made during the audit of 2020 results conducted by contractors of the Republican-led Arizona Senate.

The Wednesday hearing includes the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, County Recorder Stephen Richer and other election officials.

They planned to present a point-by-point report of the review, which experts have described as riddled with errors, bias and flawed methodology.

“We want to offer answers that we know are bulletproof,” Richer told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show in September, after the contractors released their findings.

Cyber Ninjas, a small cybersecurity consultancy from Florida, entered the audit with no experience in elections and was led by a Trump supporter who shared conspiracy theories about the election on a Twitter account that he later deleted.

The contractors’ hand recount produced numbers similar to the official results of Joe Biden’s narrow victory, but their report claimed a number of shortcomings in election procedures and suggested the final tally still could not be relied upon.
