Videos show severe thunderstorm making its way across the Valley

PHOENIX — A strong storm system rolled through the Valley on Monday afternoon, prompting severe thunderstorm, dust and flash flood warnings.

At least 50,000 APS and SRP customers reported power outages as the storm made its way from the far southeast Valley and into the downtown Phoenix area.

Numerous flights at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport were delayed as a result of the storm, while other residents across the Valley reported downed power lines and trees, one of which toppling onto the home of an elderly man in Mesa.

The severe thunderstorm warning lasted until 6:30 p.m. as the system made its way across the Valley, while a flash flood warning was issued until 8:15 p.m.

Many parts of the Valley saw at least a half-inch of rain or more, with the area just south of downtown Phoenix receiving the highest rainfall total at 1.34 inches.
