Vice President Mike Pence postpones Arizona trip until Wednesday

PHOENIX — Vice President Mike Pence has moved his Arizona trip back by a day, officials said Monday.

Pence will visit Arizona on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, when he will meet with Gov. Doug Ducey in Phoenix to discuss the state’s effort to stop the spread of coronavirus.

No other details on Pence’s trip were immediately available.

Over the weekend, the vice president postponed a planned campaign event in the state “out of an abundance of caution,” a campaign official told NBC News’ Josh Lederman.

Pence was scheduled to continue his campaign trail on Tuesday, where he would have his Faith in America event in Tucson before departing for Yuma.

Pence is also suspending his campaign events planned in Florida, another state that has seen a substantial rise in positive coronavirus tests and rates.
